Meta-Material Layout for the Blast Protection of Above-Ground Steel Pipes

The current study investigates the capacity of proposed meta-material layout for blast protection above-ground steel pipes against explosions. philosophy layout’s design is described adequately, and 1D periodic structures’ theory adopted analytical prediction band-gaps. special characteristics loading are explained, specific time-related parameters calculated. tested numerically nine explosion scenarios various magnitude via finite element program ABAQUS, CONWEP model selected simulation results demonstrate a significant reduction in maximum displacements developed on pipe’s spring line crown within loading. This composes an extension author’s previous research buried surface explosion, advancing now applicability layouts cases towards explosions hazards. outer goal investigation further spreading beneficial exploitation meta-materials concepts scope pipelines’ effective protection, readdressing that this way major hazard type structure gap literature.
